'Tropa de Elite' won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Festival

The film Brazilian Tropa de Elite,of José Padilha, this Saturday won the Golden Bear of the Film Festival in Berlin. The director received the top prize in the event of the hands of the President of the jury, the Franco-Greek director Constantin Costa-Gavras.

"It's difficult to express feelings in any language. Costa-Gavras is a hero for all of Latin America, for all the films he made," said the Brazilian director.

Tropa de Elite competed to the Golden Bear in competitive shows next to films like Lake Tahoe, from Mexican Fernando Eimbcke, the German Kirschblüten Hanami,from Doris Dörrie, and the Chines Man Jeuk, Johnnie To.

Even so, Tropa de Elite split the criticism in the festival, being identified as a work "fascist" by some and others saying this is a movie "intelligent".
